Yardkicks® V2 Traction Kit - make your own custom cleats

Easy, fun DIY baseball/softball project/gift - transform sneakers into cleats

HEAD'S UP: Yardkicks are not intended for the World Series or holding up forever on rock hard playing surfaces, etc. we are still learning from your feedback.

The shoes you mount make the biggest difference in how they feel. (Don't throw away your normal baseball/softball cleats!) NEW INTEL: Sneakers with more structure/thicker soles work better than thin (vans, chucks, dunks are thin and flex more so spikes can pop out).

FAQ

What are Yardkicks made of?
Metal screw overmolded with nylon cleat
Why get a Traction Kit when I can buy cleats?
KICKS' customers own plenty of regular cleats but love the limitless options Yardkicks provide for style, comfort, kids, and they're just more fun to wear!
Will they ruin my shoes or make them leak?
Yardkicks are meant to be permanent but if removed usually leave only a small incision in the rubber and the 7mm screw does not go all the way through sole of recommended shoes. Yardkicks upgrade your shoes for field sports.
Do I need to drill pilot holes?
NO - UNLESS you are doing Jordan 11s, Foamposites or other models that have carbon fiber or hard plastic under the rubber.
Does glue help?
Yes, use a dab of Shoe Goo on threads for all installs. Shoe goo has flex and works better than super glue.
I'm a lefty or righty does this matter?
No. The screws lock in place and won't "unscrew", if mounted poorly they can pull out but unscrewing is not an issue. Use Shoe Goo, we do.
Will they fall out?
Fall-out is RARE if installed properly on flat rubber soles. Follow install and shoe guidelines and you'll be good.
Can I use a drill?
Yes this is the way to go if you have a drill. Your Kit includes a 5mm hex bit for drill installs.
Is there a recommended pattern?
We like 8 cleats as pictured but It depends on the shoe and existing tread, find flat spots on the sole and distribute 8 cleats per single adult shoe.
Will Yardkicks push through to my feet?
We have not had a reported case of push through and encourage you to only use Yardkicks on shoes with minimum sole thickness of 1/3 inch. If you choose thin soft soles like Vans, Chucks, Dunks or skate shoes you will feel the cleats underfoot more than with thicker soles.
Can I take them out?
Yardkicks are designed to be permanent but if they wear down or you want to transfer to another shoe you can do this once. Installing/taking out every time you play is not recommended.
